Crafty features

I really started focussing on media relations when I launched my own jewellery line, Made With Love. It has been featured in several magazines and newspapers, which I will post images of shortly, but just as important has been the coverage I have had online.

One of the things I'm most proud of is being included on fashionista extraordinaire Emily Sears' blog Fashionbite:

I also played up the strong recycling element of my work in press releases, leading to an article on the website GreenMyStyle:

Websites and blogs can be a fruitful source of coverage. Other sites I have managed to get coverage on include:

Cult designer NiftyKnits' blog

Fab American design site, A Designed Life

Blackberry Crafts' blog

Found on Folksy...

...twice!

The fantastic online magazine UK Handmade

Folksy seller Milomade's blog, which has a strong recycling focus

Press coverage: Music

Before setting up Nine Lives I worked ad-hoc for a variety of organisations, initially mostly music. One of these was the legendary local music venue the Dog and Partridge, which hosts bands from all over the world - groundbreaking stuff indeed for Bolton.

Many of the bands were booked by the husband-wife duo of Ivan and Chelly Crompton, collectively known as Interkonnect. Eventually they decided the time had come to dedicate themselves to something else... but not before one last fantastic gig. I did the press - and the following cuttings prove why a good press release is one that can simply be cut and pasted by a journalist when deadline's looming...

Spot the difference?

I also handled the press for the 2009 Bolton Music Showcase. We had lots of lovely coverage, including a BBC interview which you can read here.

Unfortunately due to funding the event was cancelled, but thanks to a little careful management the hastily-organised replacement gig was also reviewed by the BBC, turning potential disaster into something of a triumph:

Press release writing and distribution service

Would you like to see your products or events promoted in newspapers and magazines but simply don't know where to start?

With seven years' journalism experience and having held media liason posts for a huge range of organisations, from music venues and festivals to horse shows and jewellery collections, I have set up Nine Lives PR to help out small designers and organisations promote themselves without having to pay hundreds - sometimes thousands - of pounds to a big PR company.

I have helped people get coverage for their products and events in major national and regional press - including the BBC - and on numerous blogs and websites. I specialise in helping craft designers, artists, theatre companies and music venues, although my media contacts are extensive and wide ranging.

All work will be carried out to strict deadlines and the highest possible quality. You will receive a copy of your press release in Word document and PDF form, which you can then use however you like.

For a further fee I will open my bulging contacts book and distribute your release for you, saving you the effort of having to track down hundreds of email addresses.

Working in the media means I have access to inside information which means my contacts book is always up to date and relevant.

Prices start from £20. For more information, email ninelivespr@yahoo.co.uk

A cuttings service, campaign management and web copywriting service is also available. Email for more information.
